Flute
Flute is capable of a wide range of lyrical expression. The flute has a playful sparkle while also having a
warm soothing sound.
Flute blends beautifully with strings and can stand out as a solo instrument.
Flute can be substituted for the First Violin part of a String Quartet for a total combination of Flute,
Violin, Viola and Cello. This group is called a Flute Quartet and is similar to a String Quartet;
the difference being the expanded sound of Flute and Strings.
Some wind instruments have to rest for short periods of time during a performance. The flute can
easily play technically demanding music for long periods of time without having to rest. One
Thanksgiving Day, Flutist Sheila Zimmermann and Pianist Eric Zimmermann performed for eight hours at the Ritz-Carlton
Marina Del Rey. (Short breaks were taken on the hour to enjoy an extended Thanksgiving dinner.)
Flute crosses over beautifully from classical to popular music. When planning music for a wedding ceremony, elegant cocktail hour or dinner party consider Flute.
